Journeyman Commercial HVAC Service Technician

Total Mechanical Services is hiring an experienced Journeyman Commercial HVAC Service Technician to support our growing commercial and industrial service work. We are looking for a technician with strong troubleshooting ability, solid field judgment, and hands-on experience servicing complex HVAC and hydronic systems.
Our work includes service and maintenance on chillers, boilers, cooling towers, pumps, controls, and related hydronic equipment. This role is critical to helping us deliver reliable, high-quality service for customers across a wide range of systems and facilities. The technician in this position plays a key role in diagnosing issues, performing repairs, completing preventive maintenance, and representing our company professionally in the field.
The right candidate will be dependable, professional, and able to work independently while delivering high-quality service. This is an excellent fit for someone who enjoys solving complex mechanical problems, taking pride in dependable service on commercial and industrial equipment, and using sound judgment in the field.
Key responsibilities
- Service, repair, and maintain commercial and industrial HVAC and hydronic equipment
- Diagnose equipment and system issues and recommend appropriate repairs
- Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC and hydronic systems and respond to emergency service work as needed
- Work on chillers, boilers, cooling towers, pumps, controls, and associated hydronic equipment
- Complete service documentation clearly, accurately, and on time
- Maintain a safe, professional, and customer-focused presence on job sites
- Communicate findings and recommendations effectively with customers and internal team members
- Manage service calls independently and use sound field judgment in troubleshooting and repair decisions
Required qualifications
- Commercial/industrial HVAC: 3 years minimum (required)
- Journeyman-level experience required
- Verifiable commercial service experience required
- EPA certification required
- Valid driver's license required
- Ability to pass a drug screen required
- Must be eligible and willing to join Local 344 Union
- Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and mechanical skills
- Experience working with hydronic systems, pumps, boilers, chillers, cooling towers, and controls
- Ability to work independently and manage service calls effectively
- Strong professionalism, communication, and customer service skills
- Ability to maintain accurate service records and documentation
